 PERSONAL HIGHLIGHTS
What stick do you use and why do you choose it?
I use the TK 1.1 Control Bow Plus. I use this stick because it provides me a lot of power when hitting, but also allows me to have controlled dribbling skills. Elephants are also my favorite animal, so I love that I get to have one on my stick when I use TK! (That’s why I first picked TK as a kid).
Do you have a grip preference? If so, which grip and why do you like it?
I like to use a chamois grip by Gryphon when I play. I like the chamois grip because it absorbs moisture, allowing me to have a good grip in all weather conditions.
How long have you been playing field hockey and what made you first want to start playing?
As a kid, my siblings and I would play street hockey in our driveway for hours, and my mom decided to sign my sister and I up for the local recreational field hockey league in first grade. My mom helped my sister and I start playing in this league and even was our first coach! I have continued playing field hockey ever since, which has been 13 years total.
Do you have any pre-game rituals?
I always have to tie my shoes twice before each game. I also make sure to clean my Rec Specs before I step onto the field.
What’s your go-to pre-game meal?
Usually I have a protein bar and fruit before my games. If I am in a rush, sometimes I also grab a seltzer water to drink.
What is your go-to game day hairstyle?
I always put my hair in a tight bun at the top of my head and pair it with colorful pre wrap from Longstreth.
Favorite pump-up song(s) to listen to before a game?
Danger Zone - Kenny Loggins
Welcome to the Jungle - Guns and Roses
Miraclemaker - Dom Dolla
Describe your playing style in three words?
Quick, simple, selfless
What do you like to do when you’re not playing field hockey?
When I’m not playing field hockey, I like to work out, crochet, sew clothes, hang out with friends and family, or dance. I have actually been a dancer for as long as I have played field hockey!
Do you have an game day superstitions?
I like to tie my shoes twice before each game, but otherwise, I don’t really have any other game day superstitions.
What’s your favorite motivational quote?
Practice like you’ve never won; perform like you’ve never lost.
If you could give your younger self a piece of advice, what would it be?
Worry less about things that cannot be controlled; instead, focus on applying yourself fully and trying your absolute best.
What is your favorite field hockey memory?
My favorite field hockey memory would be when I scored the first goal against the U18 Canadian National Team while representing the United States on the U18 National Team in a five game series! I took a one v. one against the goalkeeper and scored by lifting the ball into the side of the cage.
