In 1977 Barbara Longstreth met Mohinder Gill, a student from India. Barbara
agreed to sell his hockey sticks when she traveled with her field hockey team.
Thus, Longstreth Women's Sports began with the sale of Mohinder's hockey
sticks
from the trunk of her car. Since then Longstreth Women's Sports has
grown to be North America’s premier source for equipment and apparel for
Women’s Field Hockey,
Fastpitch
Softball and Lacrosse with annual revenues
in excess of ten million dollars. Longstreth’s success is attributable not only
to quality products and excellent prices but also to Barbara’s passion for women’s sports and the personal attention given to players.
Barbara Longstreth graduated from Beaver College in 1958 where she was an
All- American in both Field Hockey and Lacrosse. For the next 18 years Barbara taught and coached both sports at all levels. During this time she played with the nation's leading lacrosse team, Philadelphia 1 for thirteen years and traveled abroad with both the U.S. National Field Hockey and Lacrosse teams. All Longstreth products and apparel are provided under the watchful eye of this All-American Field Hockey and Lacrosse player.
In 1991 Longstreth responded to the need for bats, gloves, or other softball equipment made for women. Using a panel of experts and working closely with leading
manufacturers, products specifically designed for Women’s Fastpitch Softball were developed and added to the Longstreth product offering. Since then, Longstreth has become North America’s leading source for
Women’s Fastpitch Softball equipment and apparel.
